China Banking Corporation (Chinabank) was selected by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) as the country's 2023 Employer of the Year.
The esteemed Employer of the Year (EOY) designation sets the bar for superiority in personnel administration. On October 26, 2023, at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu, Chinabank—the only bank to obtain this coveted accolade in the previous 30 years—was honored at the 60th PMAP Annual Conference Awards Night.
For the three Award categories—Employer of the Year, People Manager of the Year, and People Program of the Year—PMAP received 77 nominations in all from all around the nation. The following criteria were used to analyze the 33 nominations for the EOY category: people engagement, risk management and sustainability, performance focus, HR competence and credibility, leadership focus and methods, and strategic business management and HR collaboration.
Seven Regional Exemplars were selected after a thorough examination process, four of which were Exemplar Employers that submitted applications for the EOY award: Chinabank, Manila Water Company, Inc., Murata Philippines, and Rizal Commercial Banking Corp.
The leading association of businesses and skilled managers interested in working in industrial relations and human resource management in the Philippines is called PMAP. The PMAP Awards program, which is in its 47th year, has been honoring the best practices in the field of people management for future generations to follow.
