As the shoe industry lives on, Marikina is still well known for making the first shoe historically. Yearly, Marikina Sapatos Festival is being held to showcase the craftsmanship and high-quality of Marikina-made shoes. Most of our locally known brands are Marikina-made. I can still remember how my mom used to be a shoe-sewer when I was 4 years old. That is why Marikina-made shoes are very closed to my heart.
For this year, Marikina Sapatos Festival started last November 12, 2018 and will last until January 6, 2019. The festival is participated by almost 48 brands and here are a few reasons to visit Marikina Sapatos Festival.
1. Assorted Shoes - Choose from the wide arrays of shoes from different brands. Leather made shoes, boots, sandals, school shoes and a lot more! Even shoes for your little ones are available here.
3. Locally Made. This only means that we have a lot of great shoemakers that can compete worldwide with the quality of made shoes Marikina is producing. Of course this only means that there will be more jobs for Marikeño.
5. Bags and Wallets are also for SALE! Aside from shoes, you can also find bags and wallets here.
6. Accessible. Having this kind of Festival means more people will know about Marikina-made shoes and Filipinos will continue to patronize it. Marikina Sapatos Festival is located at the newly renovated Freedom Park just in-front of Marikina City Hall.
