I am not really a wine person. Maybe because sometimes I thought of it like its for rich people lang. But I am not new to it, my mom introduced it to me and a few friends. And it is always a privilege to learn and taste something new. I can still remember, the very first foodie meet-up that I've attended c/o Zomato. It was for Planet Grapes, where I first tried to combine wine to a dessert. It was one of a kind experience. So when I was invited to another wine tasting event, I obliged right away. The Grape Escape Wine Lounge + Kitchen is located in Maginhawa. It was my first time in Maginhawa mga bes! Level up na tayo ng location ha? :) I am not really familiar with the place, so UBER to the rescue! I requested on the app the exact address but the driver didn't drop me on the exact location. I had to ride a trike going to the place.
Welcome to Grape Escape Wine Lounge + Kitchen! At first the simple glass door greeted me. It was tucked between two restaurants and you will not notice it right away if not of course for the name indicated outside. It was a small place but as soon as you are inside there is a different kind of vibe. The chandelier got my attention instantly. It was not your ordinary kind of chandelier. It was made from a tree with crystal-like decors. The design on the stairs also caught my attention. They also have an open kitchen where you can see the chef's cooking.
Grape Escape Wine Loune + Kitchen has come a long way from their humble beginnings as a Food Container stall at the StreEat Foodpark back in 2015. Now they have taken it up a notch as they bring the newest place to relax and unwind in Maginhawa. This one-of-a-kind haven offers a more upscale experience compared to the usual joints in the area.
Now, let's go to the food! We were first served with these crunchy appetizer.
They specializes into wine pairing and delectable Mediterranean dishes. But before digging into the food, we had a 101 wine session with Yaz.
Swirl, smell and score your wine as per Yaz. He taught us on how to pair the wines with the Antipasti Sampler. It is consists of Hungarian sausages, different kinds of cheeses, biscuits and salsa. I specifically loved the Brie Cheese w/ Chardonnay White Wine.
They also offer pastas. We tried Aglio Olio, Arrabbiata and Meatballs. I loved their meatballs pasta! The meatballs are consist of 80% beef and 20% pork. It was so tasty and generous of meatballs.
Another favorite would be this hand-crafted Carbonara Pizza! Bacon infused cream, mozarella and egg. It was creamy and unforgettable!
Other favorites include Pork Chops, Salpicao, Chicken Fritters and Albondigas Tapas.
One of the best sellers include the most requested dish is this Osso Buco.
Grape's desserts are likewise winners, as all are personally made by Patisserie Chef Nichola Santos. Her best-selling creations include Sexy Chocolate Cake and Blueberry Tiramisu.
Take a break from the daily grind, escape and live a little. Surround yourself with the relaxing comfort of good food and exquisite wine only at the Grape Escape.
