LOSING AND GAINING A NEW JOB
How have you been since the lockdown? It's funny how you've always wish to work from home even before this happens. We should really be careful for what we wished for? Agree?
Who would have thought that job of yours for almost 7 years will be gone just like that. It was your comfort zone. You never thought of living it behind even though you always wanted to work from home at the back of your mind. You love your work and you thought that you can stay on this job for a long time. Then COVID happened. I know you are a bit shocked that something can be gone just like that.
Almost 7 years on one account. Gone thru different teams, dealing with so many personalities and met a lot of friends. And above all, learned so much in dealing with life. |
After a month of being laid off, an opportunity came knocking in. It was for a new job. But it was something you haven't done before. I know you were a bit scared. Scared that you might not make it. Scared that you are not a perfect match for it.
But hey, after a few weeks of training you were able to make it. Losing something felt like a setback so you would know your goals and priorities. One thing that you've learned all throughout this pandemic is that things will happen real fast. The experience will not be easy but you'll know it will make you a stronger person.
You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.” We have to be honest about what we want and take risks rather than lie to ourselves and make excuses to stay in our comfort zone.
MY FAMILY HAS STRENGTHEN THE BONDS
Dear self, you were always working even before pandemic. You wanted to make sure that you provide the best for your family. But there are times you neglect the idea of spending more time with them because you are always tired.
Pandemic has stopped your lives. Yes you get to spend more time with them now but this quarantine has taken their will to enjoy life. Your kids who enjoyed going out to play, going to the mall, going to the beach, etc. is now restricted from going outside.
The one positive thing that this pandemic brings is you get to spend the rest of the days with your family. I know you just want to stay positive so you are just looking into the bright side of things. This whole experience is difficult not only to you but to your whole family. But there is one thing that you've realized, you are lucky because your family is close by your side and to everything that you still have now.
My family going thru lockdown and my kids dealing with just staying home. Seeing my family this happy amidst the pandemic made me realized that I am still indeed lucky. |
No amount of money or success can take the place of time spent with your family.
OUR DREAMS MUST CONTINUE
Dear self, how many times did you dream of having your own house for your little family? This pandemic made you realized that you can actually saved, enough to build that little abode for your family. It will still go a long way, but don't worry small progress is still progress. Our dreams must still continue no matter what.

All our dreams can come true. If we have the courage to pursue them. — Walt Disney
Dear self, I know you haven't been too good to yourself. It is okay not to be okay sometimes. Go ahead and watch all those KDrama's you've been wanting to watch. Eat the food that you've been craving for months. Make all the crochet projects you've been wanting to make.
It is okay if you are still trying to figure out how different is your life now. Things will still happen unexpectedly. Just be emotionally ready and prepare for the future.
Dealing boredom with staying at home almost everyday. I got back to my passion (crochet) and binge watch a lot of kdrama. |
Welcome these challenges in testing you. Look into every difficulty with a hidden opportunity. Make a space for gratitude and still find time to reconnects with people around you.
When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. — Paulo Coelho
DEAR SELF, THIS TOO SHALL PASS
Dear self, do not let these challenges keep you from reaching your goals. Remember, this too shall pass. You are definitely a survivor. You know you got this! I am proud of you that you've reached this far. You'll rise above these trying times. I always believe in you. I wish you all the happiness, health and success all throughout your journey.
Love,
Self
