Unilever Food Solutions held a competition for the first ever Funlasang Pinoy Twist Fest where only 10 out of 160 mouthwatering recipes of different Filipino dishes with a twist battle it out at the grand cook-off last Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Eastwood City Central Plaza. The finalist chefs are challenged to deliver the best tasting and most innovative take on the classic Pinoy dishes with fun twists that will surely fuel the love of Pinoys for the Philippine cuisine.
Among the classic Pinoy dishes that the finalists need to innovate with a twist are sinigang, kaldereta, pansit, sisig and tapa, using Knorr products and Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise. The dishes will be closely scrutinized and judged by the creativity of the twist, food taste and presentation, and the use of the UFS products by esteemed culinary experts such as Executive Chef Fernando Aracama of Aracama Food Cuisine, UFS Senior Sous Chef Brando Santos, and UFS Senior Sous Chef Paulo Sia.
Then finally the winner was announced. Mr Danio Puga, with his winning piece Octopus Sisig, was recognized as the first ever Funlasang Pinoy Twist Fest Champion who brought home the P100,000 cash prize, exclusive publicity features, and a special feature in the official Funlasang Pinoy Cookbook. His winning piece was Octopus Sisig.
The event also showcased several concessionaires which also showed food innovation and creativity.
