Reading Books, Changing Lives: The Big Bad Wolf Takes “Big Bad Tour: Mission 1 New Million Readers” to Parqal!


Greetings, Manila readers! The largest book sale in the world, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, is returning to our country! The much-anticipated return of Big Bad Wolf Books to Manila also heralds the official start of the "Big Bad Tour: Mission 1 New Million Readers" campaign, which will see the well-known book sale travel to six Philippine cities, beginning on May 24 and ending on June 2, 2024, at Parqal, Aseana City.

More than two million reasonably priced books, including children's books, instructional books, and Filipino titles, are available at the book sale. The book sale offers exclusive deals and discounts, including a special offer for Metrobank credit cardholders who can also enjoy a 0% 3-month installment for a single-receipt purchase of at least P3,000. This is done to make the books accessible to a wider audience and to encourage more Filipinos to cultivate the habit of reading.

Guests came together to celebrate the official launch of the “Big Bad Tour: 1 New Million Readers” campaign. During the event, Yap and Chuaying ceremoniously turned over books donated through the Red Readerhood Program to Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines Dato' Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary of Legislative Affairs Fatima Aliah Dimaporo.

The event was also graced by representatives of Big Bad Wolf Books’ partner organizations, including Metrobank Credit Card General Usage Head, Emily Koa; 2GO Business Unit Head for 2GO Forwarding, Francis Anne “Faye” Alonzo Babar; IKEA Marketing and PR Manager, Patrick Marcelo; IKEA Philippines Country Inspiration and Communication Manager, Jasmin Cruz; and Aseana City Chief Executive Officer, Delfin Angelo Wenceslao.

Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato' Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, lauded the initiative, claiming it will leave a lasting impact on countless lives. “Education is a cornerstone of progress, and promoting literacy is a vital step towards a brighter future for the Philippines,” he said.

DSWD Undersecretary Fatima Aliah Dimaporo echoed these sentiments stating, “In a world where knowledge is power, initiatives like these serve as a beacon of hope. Encouraging reading and making books accessible to all is an investment in the country’s future,” she said. “I am proud to support Big Bad Wolf in their mission to cultivate a culture of reading in the Philippines.”
