Insidious The Red Door was released last July 7, 2023, exclusively in movie theaters. To prepare myself for watching this latest franchise from Insidious movie, I started to binge-watch the prequels according to their timelines:
- Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)
- Insidious: The Last Key (2018)
- Insidious (2011)
- Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)
- Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
Insidious: The Red Door is supposedly the final sequel to the Insidious franchise. The story is where the Lamberts must go deeper into The Further than ever before to put their demons to rest once and for all. The Red Door has played a significant role in all Insidious movies. It represents a portal to the Further, a dark and supernatural realm where malevolent entities reside. It is often serving as a connection between the living world and the supernatural.
The story focuses more on the now 19-year-old Dalton Lambert and his dad Josh fighting their past traumas and hiding their astral projection abilities which they both didn't know they have. Though I still wished they gave more screen time to Elise who is actually dead now on this timeline and her two sidekicks because it gave more sense to the story.
I don't really want to spoil you with anything but this sequel is such a disappointment. It looked like they just gave up on the story trying to fit everything together. It is not even scary at all! I don't like the ending too, it felt a little rush to me with one star for creativity.
