I've never been to Taiwan. How I wish I've been there! Taiwan is still a long shot for me to travel to, but I really don't have to worry. The best way to go to a certain place without a sweat is by tasting their authentic dishes. Yes, I mean food! Taiwanese food is one of the world's best-loved cuisine with its delicate yet intense flavors. Good news especially to those who are working in BGC (including myself), a new restaurant that offers Taiwanese delicacies is now open in the heart of BGC. Specifically, it is located at the Globe Tower which is one street away from my office building, yay!

Say hello to Fat Fook! Fat Fook is a Taiwanese restaurant that is owned and managed by the same group that operates Ramen Nagi. It was conceptualized by Rachel Kao, the group's executive chef,  who was born in Taiwan and grew up in the Philippines. Fat Fook stems from the Chinese word for "Fa" (gaining) and "Foo" (Taiwanese term which means prosperity or auspicious). It can be literally translated to "Increasing luck."

Before entering Fat Fook, you'll see porcelain bowls that are displayed at their glass wall. I can't help but have my ootd shot here. Even their ceiling is full of bowls! It has a modern vibe with its warmly lit interiors which is inviting.

Enough with the introduction, can we just go to the food? As inviting as their interiors, the appetizing dishes at Fat Fook is an entirely value-for-money. The Taiwanese meals that they offer have their twist which are meticulously prepared by its resident chef.

Let's start with the dishes that I like the most.

MUST TRY DISHES:

Taiwanese Sausage PHP328
The sausage are meaty and flavorful! And those inserts are raw garlic! I've never loved a sausage before with garlic on it. I am not a fan of a whole garlic, if the garlic is sliced into thin pieces I can still tolerate it. Iba din ang Fatfook eh, napakain ako ng buong garlic! The garlic added the right kick of spice on the sausage.

Tofu with Century Egg and Pork Floss PHP228
I love my tofu fried as I like it crisp. But with the combination of century egg, sweet sauce and floss, it gives the right combination of taste & texture.

Truffle Xiao Long Bao PHP198 for 5pcs, PHP318 for 8 pcs
How can I even describe this dish? It is bursting with flavors! The taste of the truffle is definitely there! It is good without any sauce. I love xiao long bao as you have two dishes in one small dumpling. You can consume the steamed pork plus broth at the same time! We actually consumed the whole serving of this with only 3 of us at our table. :)

Fat Fook Chicken Chop (P238)
Taiwanese chicken are well known to be this big and flavorful. I like this one with several cups of rice! Yum!

Taiwan Style Fried Noodles PHP228
The noodles are cooked well with the ample amount of ingredients. It makes me think that Taiwanese food is also similar with Filipino food with the right kind of twist.

Oyster Misua (P98)
It is not everyday that I can eat oyster so I am including this one of my must try dishes. And yeah with the amount of 98 pesos, I think it will be worth it.

UNIQUE DISHES TO TRY:
Or should I say for the brave at heart dishes? :)

Cua Pao PHP228
I included this on the list as it has this full meat with fats on it. But I wouldn't skip this one as it has a good taste of bun and fillings and it would be fun to eat it messy. :)

Braised Beef Tendon (P298)
One person from our table was actually afraid of trying this one. But did you know beef tendon is rich in collagen? I like how crunchy this one with a tolerable spiciness.

Fried Intestines PHP208
This is not something new but I included this on the list as it has a different kind of sauce. Taiwan is known for using powder sauces. I tried it without the sauce and it was ok but it was definitely something else when you add the powder sauce.

Fried Stinky Tofu PHP228
Exactly how it is named, this one really stinks! Another first for me! When it was served, I was really curious to try it. It is best paired with the pickled radish and sauce. I prefer it with the side dishes rather than alone because the strong smell will really stay.

Oyster Omelette (P258)
Not your ordinary kind of omelette. This classic Taiwanese street food is filled with great flavors from the oyster, Taiwanese petchay, and the thick egg wrap. It is also drizzled with savory sauce which added a sweet umami taste.
