Bottle feeding was one of my concerns when I had my twins. Of course, initially I wanted them both to be breastfed but for some reason my other twin self weaned at around 5 months old. They are both bottle fed though the other one is still breastfeeding from me. When they were younger, I always worry that I might be asleep while I am feeding them and another fact is that I need to schedule their feeding time same as each other to prevent waking up every now and then. I also hate the fact that their milk always gets to their neck, every-time and will cause to a very bad smell. Before when I look for a baby feeding bottle, as long as its BPA-free that is already ok. Now, there is a new baby bottle feeding system that I discovered from the last event that I attended that every mom would really love to try.
The event was held at Dusit Thani Hotel with fellow mommies and mommy bloggers that was facilitated by Tag Media and Mindset Events.
The guest speaker was Dr Chao-Tiao Yumol where he narrated his personal experience with his patient that is 6 month old baby girl who died due to aspiration. He shared some reasons on why babies get choke during bottle feeding.
1. Position of the baby. We should take into consideration that we adults can't even drink on a flat lay stomach so as well as babies. Their gag reflex are not fully developed yet which increases the tendency of chokes.
2. Bottle feeding without safety features. Dr Yumol reiterated the importance of choosing the right feeding bottles for our kids.
3. Factor of parents. I admit it that during those infant years, I always fall asleep whenever I am bottle-feeding my twins especially if I am so sleepy and tired. But we can't blame the parents. We should in fact have the right knowledge on how to properly breastfeed our child.
Here are some proper positions that Dr Yumol recommended.
When Dr Yumol finished his talk, there was also an intermission number from Halili Cruz School of Ballet. They danced gracefully and the kids loved it especially Mila! :)
Next speaker was Ms Cristina Seldan, a call center employee, mom and Podee Spokesperson. She recounted the story on how she discovered Podee on Amazon.
