One of the affordable Japanese cuisine that you can try is Samurai. Samurai is located inside the Food Junction in Eastwood City. They only have a small stall but serves quality food.
I ordered for Tonkatsu for Php89.00 and 4 pieces California Maki for Php60.00. Tonkatsu is a Japanese food which consists of a breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet. There are two main types, hire and rosu. It is often served with shredded cabbage.
I loved how I can eat Tonkatsu with just the shredded cabbage instead of getting rice for lunch.
California Maki is a makizushi, a kind of sushi roll, usually made inside-out, containing cucumber, crab meat or imitation crab, and avocado. In some countries it is made with mango or banana instead of avocado. Sometimes crab salad is substituted for the crab stick, and often the outer layer of rice in an inside-out roll (ura-maki) is sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds, tobiko or masago.
The Tonkatsu is breaded well with a nice simple taste. It was served crispy as well as the shredded cabbage. On the other hand California Maki also taste good with an affordable price. My first order here was the Katsudon, which was bland on my taste. But overall this place is a must to go if you are looking for an affordable and quality Japanese cuisine.
